![]() The numerous area around South Florida boasts great convenience and opportunity for anglers. ![]() ![]() If everyone is enjoying themselves, extend the trip by an hour or two! These species are plentiful, so going on a half-day charter will get you great action for the whole family. Fishing with a South Florida fishing guide will yield numerous peacock bass and largemouth. The canals for peacock bass, the weedy banks for Snakehead, deep holes for Clown Knife fish, and shallow flats of the Everglades for trophy largemouth bass are just some of the opportunities. I even catch fish with them just winding in near the surface. The opportunities are endless when fishing in South Florida. Basically, if the jig is moving in a strike zone you can hook up. You can still hook up to uniques without any dots at all so do not worry if you cannot get the dots to register as you jig. Also, the number of dots is just an indication. I personally use speed 2 and 3 most of the time because I mostly jig in deep water with long casts. Keep in mind that retrieve speeds vary depending on how far you want to lift the jig off the bottom, type of reel, depth of water, how far you have casted and weight of jig head. make all weights within eachothers "range" and you will have a balanced setup. the worm, grub etc tells u what size hook it will take and weight is based on rod/reel weights they will take. The sizes i just use similar to hook size of float or lure that had worked for that area. those work for me when using jig heads w/worms, grubs etc. if u let go of RMB and do same it gives you stop and go. this will give lift and drop that u can get up to 3 dots(depending on how "quick" u work the retieve). i hold RMB down(keeping rod up) and do a slow speed(1 or 2 whichever seems to work at the time) short retrieve.
